We had a good turnout at the AGM on 5 July, on a very sunny evening, at what was our first event as AudioUK.

Our relaunch has been well received and we’re very excited and look forward to working with the wider audio sector in the coming months, basing all we do on our four new pillars of activity: business, representation, community and excellence.

At the AGM we also elected our new Board for 2018-19. Congratulations to Melanie Harris from Sparklab in Manchester, and Sue Nelson from Boffin Media in Letchworth who join the Board this year, and also to our new Treasurer, Gregory Watson from Folder Media. We also send huge thanks to Jack Wynne-Williams, who’s looked after our books for several years and helped us through various challenges such as the complex payments required by the Audiotrain schemes.

The AGM also passed a motion agreeing a new membership fees structure. Fees haven’t changed since 2013, and the small increases will help AudioUK to continue its work and develop new member services.

And business concluded with a great Q+A with Miranda Sawyer, Observer audio critic and media presenter, who talked about her own experiences on the front line of producing and how she encourages new podcasters to make sure they learn or work with the professional trade.
